You need not ask why I avoid organized religion. I don't want to get sucked back in with crazy people. I went to a little church called Mercedes (pronounced 'mer-seh-deez) when I was a teenager. These people were extremely dominionist in their thinking, and I was sucked into it with all of its radicalness and hatred. The reason I bring this up is that all this outrage against Islamic terrorism, while completely justified, should not be allowed to become hysterical to the point of accepting the leadership and direction of dominionists, thinking that Fundamentialist Christianity and mass genocide of all unorthodox believers is the Answer to what ails us. We aren't at that point yet, but we need to keep our eyes open, lest we be cast into the throes of radicalism, fascism, and dominionism. In other words, LET'S NOT BECOME THEM, TO BEAT THEM!! These things always happen gradually, and if the Christian Right has its way, we'll be a nation similar to Saudi Arabia or Iran, where anything short of devout religion is not only not tolerated, but punishable by death. Fundamentalism is a mental disease, kind of like psychopathy, and should be recognized and dealt with as such. Defend what you percieve is your interests, your safety, or what have you, but don't let it become and absolute. Everything in moderation, folks.
Again, fundamentalism is a disease. Period.
