FACTS:

1. I happily coexist, live, love, and interact in an egalitarian relationship. I have been with this absolutely amazing woman since 1998. No other person comes close to her WIN-ness. I'm not a perfect mate, but I try my damnedest to be. She's as close to perfect as any human being can get.

2. I have two children that were born in 2000 and 2002. The younger is autistic, both do well in school. I'm not a perfect parent. They aren't the perfect children. I try to guide them without making an ass of myself. Sometimes I fail, but I usually succeed.

3. I am a recovering sexist who staunchly supports egalitarian philosophy under the auspices of radical feminism. This means I see women as absolute human beings who have their own thoughts, hopes, dreams, right to self-determination, and intellect. I don't expect them to be in the least concerned about my ego or whether or not I find them fuckable. I don't expect them to cater to my ego by cocking their heads to the side, batting their eyelashes, or speaking to me in a squeaky voice. Kids do that. I assume women have bigger fish to fry. Traditional gender roles are bullshit. I try to violate them whenever possible, stopping short of cross-dressing because it takes too much effort. Patriarchy is a dying institution. We need to stop bullshitting around and bury it already. I don't have many male friends because of my beliefs. I don't consider that a loss at all.

4. I believe that faith in oneself is the most important faith of all with faith in humanity finishing a close second. Any other faith is bunk.

5. I prescribe to Wiccan and Buddhist morality... mostly. Not that I'm Wiccan or Buddhist, but these moral systems are more pragmatic than any I've seen. I used to be a Christian, but...

6. ...I think the predominant concept of god (see: Abrahamic religions) is bullshit. One is responsible for her/is own destiny. One's actions directly influence the outcome of their lives (again, see #5). Hoping for divine intervention is a waste of time.

7. LGBT folk have the right to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else (see #5). I believe people are born as LGBT the same as they are born heterosexual and that their orientation emerges sometime during or shortly before adolescence. My sexual orientation is none of your goddamn business.

8. I find it hard to believe that anyone would consent to their own suffering or be content with causing another's suffering unless there is a pathology involved with few exceptions. I apologize to anyone in the BDSM culture for that, but make no apologies for not wanting to dominate or submit to anyone. If you can't understand that, it's probably best that you avoid me altogether.

9. Consumerism is also bunk. In fact, anything that compels a person to spend money, make an undue sacrifice, puts a human being in subjugation of another, or causes harm to other human beings should be eradicated. I don't feel obligated to buy shit on holidays or birthdays and don't think you should either. I know that my folk love me to pieces all year round, and wish they didn't feel like they had to buy shit to prove it.

10. As you have probably deduced already, I lean to the left politically. I believe that the government answers to the people. I believe that the people should look out for each other. Libertarianism, free-market policy, and other social darwinism are good if you live in an alternate reality and believe that the world is still as it was in 1870. For the real world, markets need regulation and the government (run by the people) should provide for those who need it. I don't mind paying for government programs that work. I am damn glad that Barack Obama is our President, though I think our foreign policy has turned our planet into a capitalist-fascist conglomerate of nations where only Americans and westerners reap the benefits from the exploitation or cheap labor, abundant resources, and sellout political leaders while people in the third world suffer incessantly. As such, all borders should be opened so that all can reap the benefits of their labor. I believe that our President and our government should play a role in bringing market capitalism to ruin, since the U.S. played such an important role in establishing it. I believe that the U.S. Constitution, just like anything we have ever conceived, is an imperfect document which is open to challenge and interpretation.

11. I drive a fuel efficient car, but believe that the whole "green" movement will fail as long as it is connected to free-market capitalism. It's bullshit that only certain people can afford solar panels, for example. The hidden environmental costs for producing hybrid vehicles needs to be exposed. We should analyze biomass fuels' impact on the world food supply. If these aren't addressed the usual suspects will reap the benefits while the rest of us suffer. Fuck that.

12. I grew up in Southern Georgia. I live in Southern Nevada. I have no accent, no redneck tendencies, and do not miss the South in the least. Rather, I miss my family that lives in the South. Please don't confuse the two.

13. Racism is a plague. White people invented it and benefit from it. White privilege deserves to be examined and eradicated, as does male privilege and any other social privilege.

14. When I learn something new that conflicts with my current belief system, I may be inclined to adjust my behavior accordingly. If it's not new information, don't bother me with it.

15. Every human being reserves the right to be comfortable in her/is own skin. The media should shut the fuck up when it comes to how we look, how we dress, and how much we weigh. Human beings come in all shapes and sizes, not just size-0 anorexic and Greek Sculpture varieties. Fatness is rarely inversely proportionate to healthiness. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of shit.

16. Sixteen is a nice, round number with which to end a list of shit you should know about me. That is all.
